One person can start a revolu on by taking ac on—
doing what needs to be done. No excuses. Last year,
Mark Hunter( h ps://www.instagram.com/william-
sandhunter/ ) , heartbroken by the horrendous trash
condi ons in some Bal more neighborhoods, decided
to do something.
He has a construc on company and used his own
resources to combat the illegal dumping. Hunter and
his crew began cleaning up the city—tackling some
of the worst areas. He posted videos of the clean ups
on social media and caught the a en on of many. His
friends and strangers volunteered.
From this dedica on he became Mr. Hood Cleanups.
His Mo o is "Cleaning Bal more city hoods block by
block. Doing our part in Bal more City HOODS." Mr
Hunter is a Bal more Legacy Icon.

Figh ng for real change includes changing laws,
policies and systems. The thought of doing that is
mind-boggling and overwhelming to the average
person but not to Nicole Hanson-Mundell. She's an
expert on criminal jus ce policy and re-entry in Mary-
land and the Execu ve Director of Out for Jus ce.
The over incarcera on problem in Maryland grossly
impacts our families and communi es. OFJ is com-
prised of individuals who are directly & indirectly
impacted by the criminal legal system advoca ng for
policy reform. Hanson-Mundell experienced first hand
the effects. In 2013, a er serving a year in prison, she
joined OFJ and used her public policy experience to
fight for jus ce through the legisla ve process.
Every law changed by the advocacy of OFJ and its net-
work changes many lives— posi vely changes com-
muni es and society. (See next post for OFJ legisla ve
updates)
In 2021, they also conducted many outreach pro-
grams including Black Mama Bail Outs, warrant re-
calls, Juneteenth/Father's Day weekend Bail Outs, All
Night Community Resource clinics and more.
