Father, Ar st, Educator, Art-Ac vist. Aaron Maybin's career and life's mission is led by his passion and talents. An extraordinary ar st, Maybin's works are vivid visions of black love, culture and history. His ca- reer as a professional football player was spent in stadiums, prac ce fields and traveling across the na on. Now, many of his days are spent in classrooms,com- munity centers, parks and playgrounds with Bal more City students. 11th overall dra pick, five years play- ing in the league, Maybin decided to walk away from football to pursue a career as a professional ar st, ac vist, author, educator and community organizer. His transi on from full- me NFL superstar to full- me ar st and philanthropist has been extensively covered by ESPN, CBS, Fox, and garnered an HBO documentary warmly received by cri cs. Aaron teaches crea ve arts and literacy in Bal more public schools, created his Art Ac vism Curriculum (being taught in several Bal more City Schools), and also Co-founded the Opera on Heat Campaign, raising over $90,000 for schools struggling with heat- ing issues in the winter me. Outside of the classroom, you'll also find him advocat- ing for racial and economic equality, arts educa on, and recrea onal youth programming in underprivi- leged communi es across the country.
